Hello October!

Happy October!

It's been an exciting week! Our caterpillars have officially formed their chrysalises. Cross your fingers that the butterflies wait to make their appearance after we return from the long weekend! The students even made their very own butterfly life cycle hat this week.

We have established classroom jobs. Each week, every student will have their very own job to do in the classroom. Every week the jobs will rotate, giving each student a chance to do everything!

During Reading Workshop:

  • We practiced making predictions before we read a story.
  • Read a book as a class that we made by looking for popcorn words! (Words we know)
  • Introduced buddy reading.

During Writing Workshop we:
  • Learned to write across more than one page.
  • Practiced stretching out words and writing letters for each sound.
  • Learned how to re-read and edit writing we have already done.
  • Went on a word scavenger hunt around the classroom!

During Math we:
  • Learned about triangles.
  • Used number boards to represent numbers.
  • Worked on number stories.
  • Continued working on stations.
 Next week....
  •  Is fire safety week! We will be going to the fire station on Tuesday and the smoke trailer will be coming to Rowe on Wednesday!
  • Our school nurse Jill will be coming into our class to talk about germs and how to stay healthy!
Reminders...
  • Library books are due on Fridays.
  • If you student is doing something after school and will be riding a bus to that activity (Mad Science, etc.) please pack a bus note with you student. :)
  •  If you need a new paper for your photo collage (the yellow poster) let me know and I will send one home with your student.
Hope you're enjoying your long weekend!
Jenna
