Fire Safety Week

It has been a sensational Fire Safety Week! We were lucky to go visit the fire station and have the smoke trailer come visit us. The students enjoyed learning about what firemen do and seeing the inside of both a firetruck and an ambulance! Students were also able to crawl through the smoke trailer and learn what to do if they see or smell smoke in their own homes. Fire Safety Week concluded with a fire drill on Thursday, during which the students did an excellent job listening to directions.

We also learned about germs with our school nurse, Mrs. Webber. She brought a friend along to show what happens when you don't cover your sneezes. She also showed us how to wash our hands thoroughly by making sure you sing the entire alphabet song before deeming your hands clean!

During Reading Workshop we:
  • Practiced pointing to each word on the page so that we wouldn't skip any.
  • Continued working on perfecting the art of buddy reading!

During Writing Workshop we:
  • Observed and wrote about our butterflies.
  • Wrote stories about fire stations
  • Practiced sharing our writing with the class.

During Math we:
  •  Learned the meaning of the word attribute and how to sort objects into different groups.
  • Talked about the features of a circle.
  • Introduced ten frames.

Have a safe and happy weekend!

Yours truly,
Jenna
